当協会では、継続的にミクロネシア連邦チューク州ザビエル高等学校からの研修生を受け入れてまいりました。彼らには日本の農業、工業生産現場、能鑑賞、市立船橋高校との交流、東日本大震災の被災地訪問、外務省関連施設の訪問や、元JICAで派遣されザビエル高校で教鞭をとっておられた野村教師（現在は三宅島の役場勤務）との交流など、非常に充実した体験をしてもらいました。
その第1陣（2013年7-8月）で来日したメンバーの一人、K-Andreaさんは、ザビエル高校卒業後、アメリカ留学を果たし、ジャーナリスト等を経験した後、現在は北マリアナ諸島連邦の計画開発局で廃棄物分析技術アナリストとして勤務しています。

この度、彼女から当協会ホームページへの寄稿をいただきました。日本での研修をきっかけとして、その後彼女が歩むことになった道を自叙伝的に紹介したものとなっています。
ミクロネシアを始めとする島嶼国にとって、廃棄物やゴミ処理問題は環境問題と密接に関連しており、生まれ故郷の島を守っていくためにとても重要な課題となっています。

彼女が、研修生から現在のポジションに至った道のりをご紹介することにより、若い方々にとって、将来図を描くための参考としていただければ幸いです。

Contribution from Xavier High School Graduate

Association for Micronesian Development (AMD) continuously accepts trainees from Xavier High School in Chuuk State, Federated States of Micronesia. They gained invaluable experiences such as, visiting Japanese agricultural site, visit to industrial production sites, Noh(能) theater appreciation, exchanges with Funabashi Municipal High School, visits to the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster area, tours of Ministry of Foreign Affairs-related facilities, visiting Nomura teacher (currently working for Miyake Island Gov.Office) who used to work at Xavier High School dispatched by JICA, and so forth.
One of the first trainee group member (Jul-Aug, 2013), K-Andrea-san kindly contributed an article of her experience. After graduating Xavier High School, she used to work as a journalist and through some other experience and study abroad in the US, she now works as a Solid Waste Analyst for the government of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

We received the contribution from her to AMD website. It forms an autobiography, starting from inspiration acquired by the trainee experience in Japan, then following the path she has been walking.
For those archipelago nations represented by Micronesia, wastes and its disposal is closely related with environmental problem, and it becomes critically important issue to protect their homeland.

By introducing her journey starting from a trainee in Japan and leading to the current position, we hope it could be a good reference for the young people to draw their future blueprint.
